Amorosa by Ruth Mastenbroek

*****
Year: 2012

Notes: watermelon, galbanum, violet leaf, ylang-ylang, jasmine, tuberose, tiaré, amber, patchouli, vetiver
Even though Amorosa is supposed to be a quaint tribute to the aromas found in Ruth Mastenbroek's home and garden, in Italy, it's somewhat misleading to classify it as an outright floral-chypré.

With an obstinate green watermelon accord, one would describe it as more of a fresh woody-floral. While some may attempt to claim that it's actually a modern chypré, as far as one's concerned, a fragrance that's devoid of any bergamot, moss and animalic musk of some type is anything but a chypré. Period. Yes, it's quite pleasant and inviting but, at the same time, also nondescript and deceptively classified.

As previously mentioned in Ruth Mastenbroek, one had been expecting Ruth to be a bit more adventurous with her second creation. Sadly, Amorosa is a disappointing step backwards, even if both staying power and sillage are slightly better than her eponymous release.
