Originally given away strictly as a competition prize, during Christmas 2010, Cologne du Maghreb is a classic Eau de Cologne that stylistically harks back to Andy Tauer's earlier (and more natural) offerings.

The opening is sparkling, refreshing and juicy, with a rich cocktail of various citruses providing a seamless path for the sweet emergence of some orange blossom and neroli. The rosemary is understated and yet very crucial to the composition, while the lavender nicely rounds off the subtleties of an aromatic presence.

Both the rose and geranium make cameo appearances before the earthiness of the cedar and vetiver gradually emerge. As to be expected, it's nearly all over within several minutes but delicious traces of ambery musk still continue to emanate from the skin for a little while longer.

Overall, it's a lovely creation that's also a lamentable reminder of how special this house once was.
