Eau Blanche by Brecourt

*****
Year: 2010

Notes: Sicilian bergamot, Calabrian lemon, Sicilian mandarin, ginger, tea, jasmine, cedar, musks

Comment: Eau Blanche is part of Les Contextuels Collection
Unleashing a synthetic lemon detergent aroma, Eau Blanche almost immediately descends into soapy territory (spiced up with some ginger). An overzealous tea accord gradually proceeds to overwhelm everything that went on before, while an anticipated jasmine component mysteriously fails to materialise.

The woody-musk base that half-heartedly unravels is both anti-climactic and below par in quality, as it polishes off a far from impressive performance. With exceedingly low sillage and average lasting power, it unconvincingly alludes to the finesse of L'Artisan's Tea for Two but gravely fails in terms of execution.

Although the composition attempts to toy around with the concept of minimalistic simplicity, one still can't help deeming this concoction as faint, uneventful and woefully insubstantial.
