Hindu Grass by Nasomatto

*****
Year: 2007

Notes: herbs, grass, hay, tobacco, patchouli
Hindu Grass is an earthy patchouli fragrance, with herbaceous and tobacco undertones. Although credit should be given for not incorporating a vanilla or amber base, for all its hype about the use of 'herbs', there really isn't much edge or substance to be found.

Yes, it does come in parfum extrait but its lasting power doesn't meet one's expectations as, within a couple of hours, there's hardly any trace of it. This is nothing more than another case of the emperor's new clothes – an insipid and dressed-up niche wannabe, desperately hoping that its misleading concentration label will generate more interest (as well as commanding a higher retail price).

There are many patchouli Eau de Parfum releases that satisfy far more than this Nasomatto offering, especially those by its niche compatriots Profumum, Mazzolari and Lorenzo Villoresi.
